THE PROBLEM: THE PARTICIPATION PARADOX

Across Africa, democratic constitutions exist—but remain inaccessible to the majority of citizens. This creates a Participation Paradox: people are expected to participate in a system they do not understand.
Key Consequences:
  • Vulnerability to misinformation and political manipulation
  • Erosion of the rule of law
  • Marginalization of women, youth, and minority groups
  • Reduced economic confidence and investment
KEY INSIGHTS & DATA
  • 60% of Africans have little or no knowledge of their Constitution
  • Only 25% can accurately explain its provisions
  • 75% recognize its importance for national development

There is a clear gap between demand for constitutional knowledge and access to it.
